“I became interested in pediatric occupational therapy through my shadowing experiences while applying to OT school and, more recently, through my Clinical Conditions and Pediatrics coursework. One thing that has stood out to me is how much early intervention can truly change the trajectory of a child’s life. Creating a positive and meaningful first experience where therapy feels fun and empowering motivates me. Through Project ASPIRE, I hope to gain clinical skills that will strengthen my practice across all settings, not just pediatrics. When working with children, you often need to be prepared with plans A through Z, being flexible and following the child’s lead. At the end of the day, we are all kids at heart, and developing this level of adaptability will not only prepare me for pediatric practice but also strengthen my ability to work with adult and geriatric populations.”
“After graduating from UT Health, I want to take advantage of the breadth of occupational therapy and gain experience across different practice areas, such as schools, the NICU, and ECI. Long term, I would love to open my own practice.”
